Biography

His work up to now has primarily focused on still life painting in oils with themes involving subtle varying viewpoints, distorted perspectives and conflicting spacial relationships between objects. Lately he has been exploring compositions based on art work that he likes, focusing firstly on flat and slightly raised shapes and creating his own narratives from that premise. These new works include figurative and landscape images as well as still life elements and often feature bold areas of colour or texture.

Wallace works in a variety of media including using found objects, plaster, card, resins, inks, but his first love is painting in oils. Large figurative paintings, three in succession have been created most recently: ‘Halloween in the Japanese Garden’ (5ft x 4ft), ‘Life’s Journeys’ (5ft X 3.5ft), and the historical commemorative ‘Iolaire’ (8ft x 4ft), currently shown in Lews Castle, Stornoway.

Currently he is teaching part time to enable him to spend more time on creating his own work. He has had work bought by private collectors across the United Kingdom.
