My artistic career started as a response to recovery from breast cancer treatment in 2004. I am a family doctor, now spending more and more of my time as an artist, expressing the fragility and transience of life.
My photographic work is a response to findings on my travels. Abstract and conventional photography along with the written word capture mood and emotions from far flung places and closer to home. I find myself drawn to the smaller details in nature, finding beauty in the unseen and ordinary.
Working in both colour and monochrome I am driven by a desire to explore wild and remote landscapes, and to comment on man’s interaction with nature.
Making small, limited edition books alongside individual photographic prints and series is an alternative way of expressing my thoughts and emotions.

2011 Postgraduate Certificate in Photography at Central St Martin’s, University of the Arts, London.
I completed one year towards an MA in visual arts ( book art) at University of the Arts, London ( 2016-17) and have self-published several books. Studying had an adverse effect on my creativity and wellbeing, so I did not complete the course.
In September 2017 I undertook a three week residency in Trelex, Switzerland. During this period I realised the immense value that protected time and a unique place can have on the creative process.
I have a studio as a member of New Road Artists at Rye Creative Centre in Rye, East Sussex. This offers a quiet space to work and the support of many other talented artists in different genres.
I write a blog ‘an ordinary life’ charting my artistic journey, together with musings on how ordinary life can sometimes take over.
